St Jude Aortic Connector
St. Jude Aortic Connectors have been found to be defective medical devices. Used in heart bypass surgery, the St. Jude Aortic Connector enables surgeons to perform complicated cardiac procedures without requiring the patient to be hooked up to respiratory assistance during surgery.
The symmetric bypass aortic connectors were never tested on large groups, nor did St. Jude perform standard clinical trials. St. Jude has never made any attempt to alter the design of the aortic connector to remedy potential problems, nor have they contacted patients or doctors to advise them to test patients who use the connector.
Later during its public use, a variety of adverse effects were found to be associated with the St. Jude Aortic Connector. The adverse effects associated with the St. Jude Symmetry Aortic connector include graft narrowing, valve leakage, failed deployment, and occlusion.
The St. Jude Symmetry Bypass Aortic connector is still on the market and aggressively marketed by St. Jude Medical.
